Today is Earth Day and National Arbor Day is on Friday. This week is the time to reflect on what you can do to help the environment. Helping the Earth should be done year-round and thanks to nonprofit and education organizations like The Arbor Day Foundation, more and more citizens are becoming aware of what they can to do chip in. Take the time to think about how you can take small steps to help reduce, reuse, and recycle. Start by recycling more around the house, even at the office. Make the effort to turn off lights when you are not in a room and unplug electronics when they are not in use. For instance, when you are not charging your cell phone, unplug the charger from the wall. The charger is still being used even when your phone is not connected. Small environmental steps will not only help the world around us, but also help save you money. There are plenty of small, convenient ways to reduce your carbon footprint and help preserve the environment.
Visit GiftCards.com today and all week to donate to The Arbor Day Foundation and learn more about how you can help protect our Earth.
I have spent the last three weeks changing every destination url for all of the keywords I have in Yahoo, MSN, Ask, and Business.com. WOW! I have over 25,000 keywords related to gift cards and I have to individually create them in a Google builder and then place them in a spreadsheet and upload them accordingly. Sound like fun? I am doing this because I want to be able to track all of my statistics in Google Analytics. GA is one of the best analytical programs going in my opinion and it is free as well. Therefore, the payoff will be great for me, but for now, it is making my eyes go numb. I don't spend all day doing this or I wouldn't be able to get the rest of my work done, but I try to do more than a thousand a day. I am almost finished with Ask and I finished Business.com's keywords. Wish me luck with the rest.
So, where did I leave off. I went to the morning workshops and thought they were rather informative and provided me with some good tips. The most beneficial part of the workshops was the discussions that began from them. I am a rather talkative person and wound up commenting throughout the day. After the morning workshops was lunch and the keynote speaker. Both were very disappointing. I am a vegetarian and had called ahead to specify that I would like a veggie lunch. Well, I received a veggie lunch, but why is that whenever certain catering groups have to make a vegetarian dish, they try to go way outside the box! This happens whenever my wife and I go to a conference or somewhere where you have to request a special lunch or dinner. They served me polenta with a bunch of very poorly cooked veggies and rice that was made with chicken stock. I like polenta, but it is really only good, when it is great. I have had great polenta once in my life at a very fancy restaurant years ago. What is wrong with making a pasta dish or a veggie wrap so I can't see how poorly cooked the veggies are. Oh well, I will stop ranting about the food because I try hard not to complain because it is my decision to eat differently. The keynote speaker was not horrible, but left me wishing he gave a better speech.
On to the rest of the day. After lunch there was only one workshop to go to and I chose the one about Google Analytics. I use GA on a daily basis and was hoping I was going to learn a few more tricks. I enjoyed the speaker and thought she gave a great workshop on GA. I was able to talk to her for a while after, which provided me with some of the answers I was looking for. By this time it was almost the end of the day and I went back to the main room to see if I won any prizes. The only reason I decided to stick around was because I knew I would win. That sounds odd, but I do have a little bit of ESP. My mother says that so did my grandmother and it was actually frightening at times. My wife says the same about me. I knew I was going to win the certificate for the fish restaurant and figured I would just give it to my mom. Guess what, I won a 50 dollar certificate to McCormick and Schmicks.
Overall, I thought it was a great experience and I took away some really good ideas that I have already started implementing. I think if nothing else you leave a conference with a few new ideas and some good connections, then it was a success.

Did you shop for great deals on Black Friday or Cyber Monday? Or did you observe Buy Nothing Day?
As I previously posted before I even saw the QotD, I did take advantage of some of the deals offered throughout the weekend. GiftCards.com is offering $25 off when $100 worth of Visa gift cards are bought and the customer uses eBillme to pay.
What a great time Thanksgiving was. I hope everyone had fun being with family and eating great food like I did. I even did some holiday shopping. I am never ahead of the game when it comes to shopping and I have my wife's birthday before Christmas! I don't wait until the last minute, but it has been quite some time since I took advantage of Black Friday. This year is proving to be different. I started shopping on Friday and did find some discounts on items I was looking for. I also used some coupon codes, thanks MyCoupons.com. Shopping is even easier with the help of the Internet, but that doesn't mean you have to pay the top price for the items you are looking for. Internet retailers are all joining in the game when it comes to offering savings and discounts this time of year. It makes sense for them to, they are receiving far more traffic then they normally do throughout the year and it is beneficial and enticing to their audience of consumers to offer a reason to choose them over another retailer.
If you are looking for deals, GiftCards.com is still offering a $25 rebate when you purchase over $100 in gift cards and use eBillme when checking out. If you are on the fence about what to get someone this year and gift cards seem like the best choice, shop at GiftCards.com and save some money for yourself.
With the biggest shopping day of the year being only a couple of days away, will everyone be heading to the malls? Why not take advantage of all of the deals that will be offered online this week and next. The National Retail Federation reports that nearly three-fourths of e-merchants will be offering a special deal this year on Cyber Monday. GiftCards.com is one of those merchants and is still offering $25 off orders over $100 when a customer uses eBillme to pay. Instead of waiting in those long lines and wasting your time, shop easily online this year. Giving a Visa gift card from GiftCards.com is giving the recipient the gift of choice. They can shop wherever and whenever they want. If they want to take advantage of the after holiday sales, they can.
I sent an email this week to the Google Checkout Team. Actually, I had to email a contact of mine at Google AdWords first to get the correct email address for Google Checkout because they do not like to make their email addresses very accessible. I don't know if that is a good thing for them or not. I understand that they would probably be inundated with emails from too many people, but they do employee an awful lot of people. Anyways, I was able to email the Google Checkout Team and ask if GiftCards.com could add Google Checkout to their ordering process. I received a reply two days later that said we unfortunately were not allowed to offer this service due to Gooogle's terms and conditions. I will be honest, I have never been one for rules, but I can appreciate them...I guess. I quickly emailed the team back quoting the terms and conditions and reiterating that I really want to offer this service. I will let you know what they say.
I justed wanted to let everyone know that GiftCards.com is now on Facebook. You can check out our page here! Also, we are going to be starting a contest very shortly that I think will be fun to enter. The contest is going to ask "What did you do with your Visa Gift Card?". We are going to be accepting video submissions on our YouTube channel here. We will be looking for originality, creativity, and what everyone else thinks about your video according to YouTube's video ratings. I will be posting more information about the contest in the upcoming weeks, but we should be starting it the first week of December. So...get to work on your video submissions and be ahead of the game when I announce the start date.
